Godzilla vs Biollante

Features a pretty cool section early on of Godzilla destroying Osaka and so much striking imagery around the monster of Biollante, one shot in particularly is just absolutely beautiful and haunting.

Gamera: Guardian of the Universe

Gamera is another of the popular Kaiju series that never really broke the west in the same way Godzilla did. This 1995-99 trilogy of films is some of the best the genre has to offer. I think the eye for cinematography the director has really set this a level above most of the non-Anno directed ones.

Shin Ultraman

Hideaki Annno

Ultraman is one of the most popular series of all time within Japan itself but didn't really extend in the same way other series did to the west. This film is really a love letter to the old series but requires absoultely no priort knowledge to enjoy. Fantastic film.

Godzilla vs Hedorah

Overall a mixed bag of a film, but has some extremely cool animated sequences and transitions that are so great that it's worth watching for those alone even if you hate everything else. I think this came out in a bit of a goofier era for Godzilla but the message and vibes are great.
